Introduction

Serious is a high end raiding oriented guild on the Dragonmaw (US-PvP) server. Our raid times are tentatively 7pm-12am, server time (PST), Sunday through Thursday.

While the membership hails from various prior guilds, the majority of Serious comes from BlitzKrieg of Dragonmaw, a Sunwell-level guild that discontinued raiding after the death of M'uru/Entropius.

Serious as a guild focuses heavily on theorycrafting and comparison between theory and practice.  It is expected that our raiders have a strong grasp of not only what they're doing, but why, and why not something else.

Trial Procedure

Trial periods will generally last from a period of 2 to 4 weeks.  Over this period, the initiate will be evaluated on several different points by the officers:

  1. Preparation - Are you flasked with food and oils?
  2. Attendance - Are you often MIA outside of your reported conflict period?  Are you often late?
  3. Performance - Do you perform near theorycrafted output?  Can you theorycraft effectively?  Can you hold your own in unexpected scenarios?
  4. Sportsmanship - Do you cave when we wipe?  Do you fume when losing rolls?
  5. Social Integration - Does a significant bloc of the guild have an issue with your behavior?

Trials will have a performance check meeting with their officer and the GM every 2 weeks to address concerns (about the trial or about the guild) and identify strengths.

In week 1, trials should sit down with their officers to acquire a solid theorycraft of their class and preferred spec, with a focus on consumable preference, gear deficiencies, gemming, ideal dps/hps/tps cycles.  Raiding in the first week will most likely involve 10-man content and feedback.

Weeks 2-4 will evaluate trial performance in a 25-man environment.

The trial period may be extended according to the feedback of the officers.

Behavioral Expectations

Members of this guild are expected to be upstanding members of the Dragonmaw community.  Airing petty conflicts with fellow members in a public arena (including guild chat) or soiling the name of the guild in interaction with the server will not be tolerated.  In a roster of 30-35 there is no room for liabilities.  Common decency and good sportsmanship are your friends!

Please remember that officers are there to assist in conflict resolution on top of their other duties.

Loot Policy

Loot shouldn't be the end players who join <Serious> aspire.  Members should be here raiding because they want to raid and experience the most difficult content the game has to offer.  Players who play for loot, and make a big fuss of looting decisions will not be tolerated.  Loot whores, consider yourselves forewarned.

We don't use DKP.  Frankly, I find it counterproductive.  Loot is bid on via /rand 100.  Bid priority is as follows: Main raider > Trial > Alt.  I reserve the right to step out of the established protocol as necessary.  Points of contention should be brought to me via class officer.

The following are possible loot-default scenarios:

  1. Large discrepancy in upgrade values between two players
  2. A high attendance, high performance player experiencing loot drought
  3. A relatively undergeared player is required for a critical raid role.
Exceptions will be made sparingly, and not without significant deliberation or warning.  We strongly encourage a cooperative environment where the gearing of guildmates is seen as a boon rather than an occasion to lament.

Raid Invites
Raid invites are decided in the 15 minutes before the raid start.  Please be prepared to make a first pull at the start of the raiding period!  Trials should be aware that they are less likely to obtain 25-man invites in the first week.
